Brief Brand History for Cartier:
The history of Cartier is fantastic, as it invented many styles of watches that are still produced today. Founded in 1847 by Louis-Franois Cartier, this company was originally a jewelry boutique. The first wrist watch made by Cartier was called the Santos Dumont named after the Brazilian Aviator in 1904. 2 years later, Cartier began experimenting with jewel – encrusted watches. 1917 saw the introduction of the famous Cartier Tank watch. Long regarded as the single most important and influential watch design of the 20th century, the distinctive timepiece was designed in tribute to the Allied Tank commanders who helped defend France during World War I. Today its watches are Swiss-made with French high style.
Product Line Overview:
The “Tank”, “Santos”, and “Baignoire” were all created nearly 100 years ago. In the 1980’s the “Panthere” was the watch to wear. The common theme has always been that Cartier is geared more for the women’s market. One model that has done extremely well for men is the “Roadster” and “Roadster Chronograph”. Just recently, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the “Santos”, Cartier unveiled the “Santos 100”. The "Santos 100" and the "Santos 100 XXL" continue in popularity. Newly released "Ballon Bleu de Cartier" and "La Dona de Cartier" are already much asked for.
