The history of the Swiss watchmaker Corum dates back to 1955 when it was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Canton of Neuch�tel by an uncle and nephew tandem: Gaston Ries and Renee Bannwart. The choice of name stems from a Latin word they are particularly fond of, "quÅ?rum", which refers to a minimum number of persons needed to conduct business. Over the next decades, the company impressed connoisseurs of haute horology with wristwatches that were highly original and immaculately crafted. Take, for instance, the Corum Butterfly collection. The unique butterfly shaped case is made from 18k gold and measures 23mm x 26mm. Inside is a Swiss Quartz technology. A number of Corum Butterfly model sports restrained elegance with a plain bezel or dazzles outright with precious diamonds. Water resistant up to 30m, the Corum Butterfly only has hours and minutes hands on an onyx, diamond, or mother of pearl dial.
