The stylish Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Model #172.24.40 (Q1722440) is housed in 41.5-mm 18K rose gold case with bidirectional rotating bezel under the crystal which is set by the top crown. Although Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor 172.24.40 does not have screw-down crowns, they are equipped with an external butterfly collar that turns 1/2 turn clock-wise & counter clock-wise independently of the crown. Each collar has red & white enamel indicating arrows. White arrow indicates the crown is secure/water resistant while red arrow indicates the crown is non-secure/non-water resistant. When the collar is in the secure position it compresses a gasket that ensures water resistance.

A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protects the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor 172.24.40 brown dial with luminous hands, Arabic numeral and index hour markers and elongated date display at 3 o'clock position. This sporty timepiece powered by automatic movement is water resistant to 200 meters (600 feet) which makes it suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
