The history of Van Cleef & Arpels is tinged with romance, set off by the marriage of Estelle Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef in the late 19th century. Both coming from families with background in precious stones, it was only natural that the union would lead to the Maisons founding in 1906. It also didnt surprise anyone when the workshop specialized in pieces that are deemed both whimsical and poetic. The Van Cleef Classique is no exception. While there are models for those who prefer the simple allure of a plain bezel, the face is usually surrounded by rows of diamonds and other precious stones. A quartz mechanism animates the Van Cleef Classique, the hour and minute hands showcased on a round or square case cast in 18k white or yellow gold measuring 17mm to 31mm.
