Barely two years after a fateful meeting between brothers and watchmakers Felix and Thomas Baumgartner and designer Martin Frei, manufacture extra-ordinaire Urwerk was born in 1997. United in their passion to portray time differently, the brothers took on the technical task while the aesthetic was delegated to the artist, Frei. The launch of the Urwerk 103 collection proves their victory in trodding the road less traveled. Its streamlined case with a space-age concept is built from 18k gold, platinum, or AlTiN and measures 36mm x 50mm. Boasting of a unique movement: the face of the Urwerk 103 indicates time through orbiting hour satellites while the back features a control board with its minutes and seconds dials as well as the 43-hour power reserve display.
